  • What issues are addressed?:
  • At St Peter’s Girls’ School, we provide outstanding educational opportunities for students from Early Learning to Year 12 in an engaging, collaborative and dynamic environment. Since 1894, the School has built upon the legacy of our founding Sisters, who were brave pioneers of girls’ education. Their daring vision and faithful determination continues to resonate with students today. Guided by their example, our holistic education encourages students to challenge, serve and lead with integrity and imagination in a global society.
  • Project Description:
  • We are an ELC to Year 12 Anglican and IB School located in Stonyfell, just 5km from the Adelaide CBD. We nurture girls of character and influence and provide a supportive community, diverse curriculum, and award-winning teachers.
  • Alleviating suffering / disadvantage?:
  • As St Peter’s Girls celebrates its 125th anniversary, our pupils are inspired to follow in the footsteps of our founding Sisters as women of courage, compassion and creativity.
  • Changing Policy, Practices & Systems?:
  • In line with our aim of increasing awareness of and preparation for the wide range of future careers in the fields of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), an innovative elective subject is now offered at Year 10 at St Peter’s Girls. GEMS (Girls in Engineering, Mathematics and Science) is a course that combines the learning of relevant concepts in Science and Mathematics with skills in Design Technology, Digital Technologies and the Engineering Design Process.
  • Investing in or empowering women?:
  • EmpowHER Wellbeing Program - The content tackles a variety of challenges facing young women including stress, mental health, self-esteem, sleep and the growing impact of social media. Our girls are provided with a range of strategies to build confidence and resilience. As the title suggests, it’s all about empowering our girls to be positive and happy individuals.
  • Media / Promotion?:
  • We celebrate our students success through our website, social media channels and we pitch interesting stories to the mass media.
  • How is success evaluated / measured?:
  • ATAR, Awards and University Admissions of Students. At St Peter’s Girls, we recognise that we do not live in a single-sex society. As such, our girls have many opportunities to engage in social and structured activities with boys throughout their school years. It is in their learning, confidence and social-emotional outcomes that they reap the benefits of single-sex education, cementing our School as a place for girls to flourish.
